Dr. Andy Blatt is a National Security Psychologist who has been with the STI Health and Wellness team since 2023. Dr. Blatt currently serves in the Army Reserve as the Behavioral Health Officer for a Military Intelligence (MI) Expeditionary Brigade focused on Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) and Suicide Prevention. Prior to STI, he served as a contract National Security Psychologist for US Army Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM) MI soldiers at Fort Meade, MD.
With over 25 years in Behavioral Healthcare, Dr. Blatt has provided clinical care, psychological and security evaluations in private practice and military treatment facilities (MTF). Over the past 13+ years as a federal contractor, he has provided academic and professional instruction, curriculum development and Psychological Health Subject Matter Expertise (SME) to federal agencies in several capacities. Dr. Blatt has served as a Human Performance Optimization Psychologist to the USAF Security Forces, Training and Force Development branch in the Pentagon where he developed training and materials to promote holistic health targeted to this law enforcement branch. As the Suicide Prevention Research Portfolio Manager for the U.S. Army Military Operational Medicine Research Program (USAMOMRP), he helped author the VA/DoD National Research Action Plan (NRAP) “Improving Access to Mental Health Services for Veterans, Service Members, and Military Families.” As an Implementation SME for the Defense Health Agency (DHA), Dr. Blatt has developed and disseminated clinical support tools (CSTs) from the DoD/VA Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPG). He has provided SME reviews of mental health policies to develop psychological health promotion strategies and policies within a knowledge translation framework.
With 6+ years military service, including a 2020 deployment to the middle east, the focus of Dr. Blatt’s clinical work includes Military Behavioral Health/National Security Psychology, Suicide Prevention, Trauma, and Performance Optimization. Dr. Blatt has provided training to Military, Civilian and Intelligence Community (IC) clinicians and senior leaders on Military research, ethics, and treatment.
Dr. Blatt earned his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Georgia School of Professional Psychology | Argosy University with a specialty in Child/Family Therapy. He holds an MA in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University and an MS in Counseling and Addictions from Pace University. Dr. Blatt is a Certified Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Responder and Instructor by the American Red Cross, NCR. He has served as an Adjunct Professor of Psychology with University of Maryland, Global Campus focused on Service-connected students.
