Dr Justin Leak

Dr. Justin Leak has been the Lead Psychologist for STI Health and Wellness Division since 2023, serving as clinical liaison to our federal employee assistance partners.  Prior to STI, Dr. Leak worked for the state of Maryland, Department of Health, as the Director of the Evaluation Unit and Case Manager for the Facility for Children programs at the John L. Gildner Regional Institute for Children and Adolescents (JLG-RICA).

Dr. Leak received his BA in Speech Communication and African & African American Studies from the Pennsylvania State University. He completed his MA at Lewis & Clark College in Counseling Psychology, with a specialization in Marriage, Couples, and Family Therapy (MCFT), and an emphasis on Addictions. He completed his doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) at the American School of Professional Psychology at Argosy University – Washington DC Campus (ASPP). Dr. Leak completed his APA-accredited doctoral internship at The John L. Gildner Regional Institute for Children and Adolescents (JLG-RICA).  

Dr. Leak’s research interests include university peer mentoring, counseling support, and pressures to maintain academic excellence with low-income students.   Dr. Leak has worked with students and families in a variety of educational and therapeutic settings. These include working in the higher education offices of Multicultural Affairs, Academic Advising, Career Advising, and most notably, Residence Life.  His clinical specialties include psychological/educational testing, CBT, and family systems therapy.  Therapeutically, he has notably provided psychotherapy to student populations (e.g., K-12, college, graduate school) and adult populations.  His clinical interests tend to focus on mood/depressive disorders, anxiety, life/career transitions, ADHD, and stress.
